VETV/SKY in Mexico?
Apologies if this post appeared twice - i thought i sent it yesterday but i don't see it now.

I just returned from missions trip to northern Baja Mexico. Seemingly every shack had a dish - and an outhouse.

Most of the dishes were blue and about 1M diameter, labelled "VETV / SKY". Most of the remaining were simply labelled "SKY". The majority were facing very low to the east. I didn't see any with motors. I also saw a lot of C-band dishes, though many looked to be out of service (broken lnb arms, etc). The few other dishes I saw, particularly further north, were Dish/DirectTV and a few little red ones that I could not identify.

Anyone know much about VETV/Sky? I was surprised to see so much of this, since the area I was in was such a poor area.

If Mikhel sese this he can really fill us in since he is down there. Here is what I know.

Mexico has several different pay satellite services & quite a few do FTA with both Ku size and C-band dishes.

Pay Providers
DirecTV Latin America (DirecTV)
Dish Mexico (Dish Network)
Sky Mexico (Newscorp)
TVC (SatMex)

RE: VETV/SKY in Mexico?
VeTV is the cheap version of Sky Mexico, they had to do it because Dishnetwork Mexico was winning too many subscriptions for his service and the normal verion of sky is very expensive.

Dishnetwork Mexico is $149 per month

RE: VETV/SKY in Mexico?
Hi =D

VeTV its about 170 pesos ($12-13 dlls)
DishMéxico it's 150 pesos ($10.50-11.50 dlls)

With VeTV you sign a 2 year agreement, with Dish México you sign a 1 1/2 year agreement.

VeTV has more channels because they basically use every local channel from televisa and azteca, plus other local channels who have an exclusivity agreement with sky/televisa (Dish México has been denied those channels, because televisa wants them to sell them the locals PLUS a big package of expensive channels, so as to force them to increase their price).

It's likely Dish México can be received in the US, while VeTV in the 58ºW slot will be more dificult since they are aimed primarily to México.

RE: VETV/SKY in Mexico?
I was wondering if anyone has had ne luck tuning Amazonas 1? I am using an old primestar Dish, and the lnb "KU" is a bit tricky. I have been able to pick Amazonas 2, but it's just some add! I guess there are some good Spanish channels on there for free ,but I can only tune in the scrambled one's. ne one's experience will be greatly welcomed! Thanx in advance.
