It's not my call to make, but I suspect the answer is no. |

RE: webtv_usr.xml
If you bought your receiver from Fridgefta open a support ticket here (http://support.fridgefta.info/) and he will help you. I know you did not purchase from me as I am just receiving my order tomorrow and will start to ship immediately. If you bought it from someone else then you will not have access to this feature or any other developed by amikoalienusa.com and fridgefta.info.

RE: webtv_usr.xml
I don't know why the EU guys have bee bugging us for our WebTV lately. There is a file floating around the EU forums, it has the same 82 channels from EU in it, just no NA VOD or our NA streams.
If I were hunting EU channels we'd have like 300 channels right now. They have 10x the number of streams and more of them are Alien compatible. Since we only support NA it is up to the EU guys to put in the work on their own WebTV systems. Much of our service runs from our own server so we cannot give it away and have everyone with a Spark box bogging it down, sorry. MY TIME, YOUR PAIN

@T134: There's US expats 'stranded' in Europe who'd gladly pay *money* for the webtv.xml file. Seriously. I understand the issues of bogging down your servers, etc., but the Euro Alien version is just not being supported. And I miss US TV ...

I understand the issues of bogging down your servers, etc., but the Euro Alien version is just not being supported. And I miss US TV ... Unfortunately there are alot of issues with deploying our system in Europe. Part of our new system that we are in the process of deploying includes the ability to deploy electronic countermeasures against unauthorized STB's on our system. Since you have a non-Alien North America box it would eventually get detected. Your physical location in Europe will also eventually lead to issues as our system will say "hey, we don't have STB's in Europe, something is wrong." Another issue is with the NA stream providers. Some of them are setup where their streams are blocked outside North America so they won't work. Others had to be sweet talked into allowing us to deploy their streams to our boxes only, and they don't want to see excess "leech" bandwidth, so I can't give out stream sources if I wanted to. Others like NASA just don't care, but that is the minority of them. You have to realize that Amiko/Karmacom in Europe operates entirely different than we do. It is not that Karmacom and Spark do not support EU, that is the lionshare of the market. They supply a number of individual dealers with hardware. The dealers there don't do anything with it other than to box it up and ship it to the end users. Almost everything from Spark and Karmacom is for the EU market rather than for us here in NA. We (Amiko Alien NA) are the exclusive distributors in North America partially because we have the ability to develop, deploy and support the products locally for our unique market. That is why we have things that are completely unique here. In Europe such an arrangement would probably not work for them and there probably isn't anyone there with both the resources and desire to customize the product and offer it as a saleable item. In most cases for EU something like we do just isn't needed for the way things operate over there. MY TIME, YOUR PAIN

RE: webtv_usr.xml
Thanks t134. A crying shame Amiko-Europe or their distributors can't start a similar initiative to what you've done for NA. But then, the concept of "customer service" as recognized in the US is virtually unknown in Europe.
![]() I guess a Slingbox is the only solution for me. Seems like a clumsy way to get what I want. |

RE: webtv_usr.xml
What might work for you is Roku, have you looked into it? There are private "channels" with live streaming on there. "Private" in the Roku context means that they are hidden and you need to add them. For the most part they are free. Check out http://streamfree.tv/apps/roku-private-c...-channels/
I don't know how many are blocked outside of North America. If you still have friends/family stateside they could pick you up a Roku for around $60 USD and ship it to you fairly cheap. MY TIME, YOUR PAIN

RE: webtv_usr.xml
Hey T134:
I posted this over at the Euro-Alien forum, but since you're only the only knowledgeable person who posts over there, it seems faster to just post it over here. I've tried this a thousand times: simply trying to get the NASA ISS stream. Every time I run the encryptor, I get "no webTV node!!". Here's all I've got in the file: ================================== <?xml version= "1.0" ?> -<webtvs> <WebTV title="Space Station" urlkey="0" url= "rtmp://ustreamlivefs.fplive.net:1935/ustream3live-live/stream_live_1_1_9408562" description="ssssss" type= "0" group= "1" iconsrc="" /> </webtvs> ================================== Yes, the webtv_usr.xml and encrypt tools are all in the same folder. It seems to me that even if the URL is duff, the encryptor oughta run without issue. Any obvious reason why this isn't working? Any help is appreciated. |

(04-29-2012 09:49 AM)UncleBeer Wrote: Hey T134: You've got lots of problems with the above: 1. Formatting is incorrect for the XML entry. 2. rtmp address is invalid. 3. Even with a correct rtmp address you aren't going to be able to get Alien to play stuff from ustream. Unfortunately other than what I have already posted we cannot offer any assistance on WebTV files. You also need to keep in mind that this site is for the support of the Alien NA products and customers. You really need to look around the EU forums. The information and help you need is there. Aside from carriage returns (which AFAIK shouldn't make a difference), it looks exactly like examples from their 'instructions' (if you can call 'em that...) 2. As I say: I'm a total noob at this, but willing to try. Even if the URL is duff, it seems to me the encryptor should do more than whine about "no webtv node!!" and no further explanation or instructions. Could I ask one more favor? Could you please PM me addresses of *useful* EU Alien forums? The ones I've found to date are pretty useless. Thanks! |

RE: webtv_usr.xml
I just turned PMs on. Thanks.
After much more futzing around, I think *spacing* was wrong in the example I posted, as I had success with encryption later, but had no valid streams. Thanks for any help you can lend. |
